"Dearly Departed" Opens on February 25th

The Winder-Barrow Community Theatre opens its 2011 Main Stage Season with the Southern comedy, "Dearly Departed", by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones. It will be presented on February 25, 26 & 27, and March 4, 5, & 6 at the Colleen Williams Theater inside the Winder Cultural Arts Center in downtown Winder. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 pm, and Sunday shows are at 3:00 pm.

As a part of their continuing program of giving back to the community, WBCT will be donating a portion of their ticket sales to the Peace Place, a battered woman's shelter located in Barrow County. If you are interested in donating items to the shelter for the women and children, feel free to bring them to the show with you.

Tickets are now on sale for the show. If you purchase the tickets in advance, you get the discounted price of $10 for seniors (55 and older), students and teachers. Adults are only $12.50 in advance. Season tickets are also on sale at this time. They are $40 for seniors, students and teachers, and $50 for adults. Tickets for all shows can be purchased at Winder City Hall (770-867-3106) with credit/debit cards ($3.00 phone fee will apply), cash or check. They can also be purchased at Pam Veader's State Farm Insurance office at 41 S. Center Street in Winder (770-867-1679) with cash or check. Buy your tickets early for the best price.

Auditions for the second show of the season will be held on Sunday, March 13th at 3:00 pm and on Monday, March 14th at 6:30 pm at the theater. "The Dining Room" by A. R. Gurney will be presented in May. The cast requirements are 6 men and 6 women ages 28 to 65, and each person will be playing multiple roles during the show. No prepared material is required for the audition so be sure to come and give it a try.
